Research Associate II, Pharmacology

This position will reproduce experimental protocols for in vivo assays designed to assess the pharmacology of existing and new chemical agents. Specific duties include:

  • Formulating and administering drugs by various routes
  • Assisting in the development of in vivo models
  • Profiling drugs at both the in vivo and biochemical level using functional endpoints.
  • Summarizing results of experimental studies using data plotting and graphical programs with application of biostatistical analysis when appropriate.
  • Preparing documentation required for internal pharmacology reports and external publications.
  • Refining and performing experimental protocols; help establish new assays/ protocols and revisions to procedures/ tests.
  • Establishing and validating new protocols for in vitro and in vivo testing and screening of existing and new chemical agents.
  • Ordering and maintaining reagents, supplies, and equipment required for in vitro and in vivo experimentation.
    Monitoring equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Qualified Qualified candidates will possess:

  • BS/BA in a Biology or related field with 5-8 years experience with in vivo pharmacology laboratory research and in vitro biochemical assays.
  • Strong understanding of study design.
  • Experience in diabetes or metabolic disease models, and surgery procedures are a plus.
  • Experience in spectrophotometric and radiochemical assays, histological evaluation and/or HPLC analyses is beneficial.
